LIFE GOES ON: THE MUSIC OF DON FREUND, VOL. 2

Steven Moeckel, Violin (Concert Master of The Phoenix Symphony)
Don Freund, Piano

“The full range of a violin’s capacities seems to have been exploited. When beauty and fullness of tone was a requirement, as during a lovely, playful Sonatina-Spring 1967 , that aspect of violin playing was very much present. When slashes, squeaks and rasps were the needs of the moment, as during much of Freund’s 1988 Life Goes On, for Violin and Piano, Moeckel also obliged. He’s a well trained and versatile violinist, by now apparently not phased by much that might be thrown his way.”

HEREIN LIES THE SOUL (Steve Moeckel, Concert Master of The Phoenix Symphony)
You may only find this kind of musical relationship and understanding a few times in your entire career and I find it with Steven,” says pianist Paula Fan. “The click we have musically is electrifying.”

LA VIDA APASIONADA (Steve Moeckel, Concert Master of The Phoenix Symphony)

What a fun project, an immersion into a culture that is so colorful and exciting! All the rhythms in the dances on this album are in some way or another, forms of “Flamenco,” the famous Spanish Dance form. We hope that you are seduced by the passion and pure enjoyment of life that are so much a part of the rhythms and melodies of Spain. ¡Salud! —Steven
